Santa
Clara County single family, multi-family properties (any size) and
business properties with 5,000 sq ft or more of irrigated landscape can
receive rebates for the installation of high efficiency irrigation equipment. The table
below describes qualifying hardware and the rebate amounts available.

Irrigation Equipment Rebate Eligibility
- Rebates are available for residents or businesses located within the Santa Clara County service area.
- Participants must currently own the property to be retrofitted.
- Projects must be completed within 90 days of receiving application material.
- Only hardware approved by the Santa Clara Valley Water District will qualify for a rebate.
- Labor, installation, construction costs, delivery charges, and hauling are not covered by this rebate.
- Any manufacturer’s rebates or other rebates must be subtracted before figuring eligible project costs.
- New construction does not qualify for the program as it is aimed at encouraging retrofitting of existing facilities.
Irrigation Equipment Rebate Requirements
- Customers must ensure that rebates are requested only for hardware which meets the program requirements.
- To qualify, applicants must purchase eligible hardware that will qualify for a minimum rebate of $75.
- Rebate material must be purchased after pre-inspection survey.
- If converting an irrigation station to drip, the irrigation system
must be designed so lawn and shrubs are watered separately from each
other (served though a separate valve that can be controlled
independently)
- Business customers must have at least 5,000 sq ft of irrigated landscape.
- Sites installing Weather-Based Irrigation Controller(s) must have a rain sensor installed to receive a rebate.
- Weather-Based Irrigation Controller(s) must appear on Santa Clara Valley Water District’s Approved List to qualify.
- All receipts for rebated material must be submitted with application forms.
- Rebates
may be considered taxable income by the Internal Revenue Service and/or
the State of California and a signed W-9 form must be provided with the
application.
